Las Cruces Orthodontics
Orthodontic Care for Every Age in Las Cruces
Farnsworth Family Orthodontics brings full-service Las Cruces orthodontics to Missouri Avenue, just off the East Mesa. We treat children, teens, and adults, and we handle everything from a first growth-and-development evaluation to complex bite correction. Whether you are booking your seven-year-old's first checkup or finally straightening the smile you have thought about for twenty years, you are in the right place.
Our doctors, Dr. David Farnsworth, Dr. Jae Brimhall, and Dr. Susan McBeth, are orthodontic specialists. That means dental school plus years of additional residency training focused entirely on moving teeth and guiding jaw growth. We also serve families across southern New Mexico, including Mesilla, Deming, Hatch, Anthony, Sunland Park, and the White Sands community.

Treatment Options at Our Las Cruces Practice
Braces
Braces remain the most versatile tool in orthodontics. Brackets are bonded to each tooth and connected with an archwire, which applies steady, controlled pressure that moves teeth into position over time. Because they are fixed in place and working around the clock, braces handle rotations, deep bites, crowding, and significant spacing with a level of precision that is hard to match.
We offer both metal and ceramic options, so teens who want something durable and adults who want something subtle both have a path forward. Our Las Cruces braces page walks through how each type works and who tends to do best with it.
Invisalign and Clear Aligners
Invisalign uses a series of custom-made clear trays instead of brackets and wires. You wear each tray for one to two weeks, then move to the next one in the series, and your teeth shift gradually along a digitally planned path. The trays come out for meals and for brushing, which is a meaningful advantage for oral hygiene and for anyone who plays a wind instrument or a contact sport.
Results depend almost entirely on wear time. Aligners need to be in your mouth 20 to 22 hours a day. If you are weighing this against braces, our Invisalign in Las Cruces page covers candidacy and what treatment actually looks like week to week.
Early Treatment for Children
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic evaluation around age seven. Nothing usually happens at that visit beyond a look and a conversation, but it is when we can spot a crossbite, a narrow arch, or a crowding pattern early enough to guide growth rather than work against it later. We see patients of all ages, and early evaluations are part of that.
Why Families Choose Farnsworth in Las Cruces
We are a six-office practice across West Texas and eastern New Mexico, which gives our Las Cruces patients some practical advantages. More doctors on staff means shorter waits for an appointment and more flexibility if you need to be seen quickly. If your family travels or splits time between cities, your records travel with you.
Consultations are free and come with no pressure to commit. We will look at your teeth, take digital records, explain what we see, and lay out your realistic options. Our team also works with most insurance plans and offers flexible payment arrangements, which you can review on our financing and insurance page.
Curious whether you are a candidate before you come in? Our virtual smile assessment lets you start from your phone.
Not Sure Whether You Need an Orthodontist?
Crowded teeth, gaps, a bite that does not meet evenly, jaw clicking, or difficulty cleaning between teeth are all worth an evaluation. If you are unsure where you stand, our guide to signs it is time to visit an orthodontist is a useful starting point, and you can learn more about what sets a specialist apart on our Las Cruces orthodontist page.
